Hello,
I really hope someone can help me out here.
So the last month or so i noticed my PC beeps every time i load any game.
The sound is NOT coming from my rig it is coming from the system sounds, Only i cant identify the sound source.

I have linked a video below with the sound in question, You can see in the video i have the volume mixer open and 3 sources spike when the sound plays, System, Speakers and obs, obs is only spiking because i was using stream labs to record otherwise its never open.

According to what im seeing in the mixer the sound is coming from system sounds however i have gone through all the sounds in system sounds and this sound is not in there.

I used battlefield just cuz it was quick to load up and use as an example but this happens when i load up any game with any of my launchers.
Can anyone identify this sound or help me to, I dont mind the fact that this sound is present, Whats driving me nutz is not knowing what is causing it.

Specs:

OS: Win 10
CPU: Intel i7 6700
GFX: AMD RX 480
mobo: asus gaming pro aura z170
And pc is coming up on 2 years old, Dont know if thats relevant or not.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

I would really like to apologize for the late reply, but anyway:

I would recommend running a scan with the software LatencyMon because it is able to diagnose your issue and make insightful recommendations on how to resolve it.

https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon

FWIW, I would also recommend trying the K-Lite Codec Pack which is available from here: https://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

There are several different variants and I would recommend the Mega edition which is the one I am using myself.

As it happens, it actually fixed a similar but minor issue of mine whereas yours seems to be a major one.

There is an article on How to Fix Sound Problems in Windows 10 which is available from here:

https://www.howtogeek.com/443702/how-to-fix-sound-problems-in-windows-10/

In addition, there is an article on Headphones Not Working in Windows 10? Here Are Some Fixes which is available from here:

https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-headphones-not-working-windows10/

You can also try running a System File Checker (SFC) scan (Option Three) as being described in the following tutorial:

How to Repair System Files with SFC Command in Windows 10

In addition, you can try running all the three Deployment Imaging and Servicing Management (DISM) scans as being described in the following tutorial:

How to Repair Windows 10 Image using DISM

However, in case the SFC and the DISM scans do not resolve your issue, you obviously have a serious Operating System corruption which only can be corrected with a repair install or alternatively a clean install of Windows 10.

As such, firstly, I would preferably recommend performing a repair install of Windows 10 with an in-place upgrade and more information is available from here:

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html

Performing a non-destructive repair install of Windows 10 while keeping your files and settings will likely fix your issue.

However, it will not cause you the time-consuming work of having to reinstall software and drivers.

Please NOTE: You do NOT need to follow the instruction about turning off Secure Boot as it is superfluous and can be safely ignored.

Secondly, if need be, I would recommend performing a clean install and more information is available from here:

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-clean-install-windows-10-a.html

However, before doing so, please make sure to perform a backup of your personal files and folders (especially the Downloads folder).

And then, you will need to reinstall software and drivers.

Good luck! :)

Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply and this wealth of information, I was looking into doing a repair install as i figured it was my best option but just a few hours ago i got a notification that there was an update available for my video card, I started to read the notes but didnt make it passed the first one, This is what it said.
"The audible beeps at game startup from Radeon Chill, Radeon Boost, and Radeon Anti-Lag have been removed. These features now offer audible indicators only when activated or deactivated via hotkey"

After the update i loaded up a few games and sure enough the beeps are now gone.
So turns out it was a previous update from amd that caused the issue...
Anyway, Thank you again for all the suggestions.
